A bill for an act
relating to taxation; property; requiring certain property be valued as residential
homestead; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 273.11, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 273.11, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin For purposes of property
taxation, the market value of property classified as residential homestead under section
273.13, subdivision 22, shall be valued by the assessor as residential, regardless of the
property's zoning.

new text begin This section is effective for assessment year 2010 and
thereafter, for taxes payable in 2011 and thereafter.
