A bill for an act
relating to state government; adding a provision to the Minnesota Data Practices
Act on computer data; clarifying state agency use of temporary session cookies
on government Web sites; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 13.15, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 13.15, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin This section does not apply to a cookie temporarily installed
by a government entity on a person's computer during a single session on or visit to a
government entity's Web site if the cookie is installed only in a computer's memory and is
deleted from the memory when the Web site browser or Web site application is closed.
