1.1A bill for an act 1.2proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article IV, section 12; 1.3adding a provision to allow legislators to call a special session. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5    Section 1. new text begin CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSED. new text end 1.6 new text begin An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution is proposed to the people. If the new text end 1.7 new text begin amendment is adopted, article IV, section 12, will read: new text end 1.8Sec. 12. The legislature shall meet at the seat of government in regular session in each 1.9biennium at the times prescribed by law for not exceeding a total of 120 legislative days. 1.10The legislature shall not meet in regular session, nor in any adjournment thereof, after the 1.11first Monday following the third Saturday in May of any year. After meeting at a time 1.12prescribed by law, the legislature may adjourn to another time. "Legislative day" shall be 1.13defined by law. new text begin Upon written agreement of the president and majority leader of the senate new text end 1.14 new text begin and the speaker and majority leader of the house of representatives and upon approval new text end 1.15 new text begin of this agreement by the committee in each house with jurisdiction over its rules, the new text end 1.16 new text begin legislature shall convene in special session.
