1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 343.31, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.7 Subdivision 1. Penalty for animal fighting;new text begin possessing animal fighting devices;new text end
1.8attending animal fight. A person who new text begin (a) Whoever does any of the following is guilty of new text end
1.9new text begin a felonynew text end :
1.10 (1) promotes, engages in, or is employed in the activity of cockfighting, dogfighting,
1.11or violent pitting of one domestic new text begin pet or companionnew text end animal new text begin as defined in section 346.35, new text end
1.12new text begin subdivision 6,new text end against another of the same or a different kind;
1.13 (2) receives money for the admission of a person to a place used, or about to be
1.14used, for that activity;
1.15 (3) willfully permits a person to enter or use for that activity premises of which the
1.16permitter is the owner, agent, or occupant; or
1.17 (4) uses, trains, or possesses a dog or other animal for the purpose of participating
1.18in, engaging in, or promoting that activitynew text begin .new text end
1.19 new text begin (b) Whoever possesses any device or substance with intent to use or permit the use new text end
1.20new text begin of the same to enhance an animal's ability to fight new text end is guilty of a felony. A person who
1.21 new text begin (c) Whoevernew text end purchases a ticket of admission or otherwise gains admission to that new text begin thenew text end
1.22activity new text begin of cockfighting, dogfighting, or violent pitting of one pet or companion animal as new text end
1.23new text begin defined in section 346.35, subdivision 6, against another of the same or a different kindnew text end is
