A bill for an act
 relating to courts; providing for a deferral from jury service for certain nursing
mothers; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 593.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [593.485] JURY DUTY DEFERRAL FOR NURSING MOTHERS.

new text begin Upon request, the jury commissioner shall grant a deferral from jury service for a
nursing mother who is responsible for the daily care of her child and is not regularly
employed at a location other than her household. A deferral under this section is required
for the period of time during which the mother nurses the child, up to one year from the
date of birth of the child.
