A bill for an act
relating to adoption; providing for correction of birth certificate information in
certain cases; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 259.89, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 259.89, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin An adopted person who is provided
with the information on the adopted person's original birth certificate may request the
commissioner of health to issue a corrected birth certificate to the adopted person with the
names of the birth parents instead of the names of the adoptive parents. The commissioner
shall make the requested corrections.
