1E Relating to education; expanding the required academic standards to instruction in world languages, providing for the application of a statewide intermediate low standard of proficiency for students with limited English proficiency (LEP); specifying a timeline for school districts to adopt graduation requirements for world languages; requiring all colleges and universities approved by the board of teaching to prepare persons for world languages teacher licensure to implement certain program standards; requiring the commissioner of education to designate a full time state coordinator to work with school districts on developing world language programs; requiring commissioner to evaluate district implementation plans; requiring the commissioner to award grants for pilot world languages programs to school districts and charter schools; appropriating money to the commissioner of education for world languages teacher recruitment and pilot world languages programs
