1.1A bill for an act 1.2relating to transportation; removing length limit for middle vehicle in recreational 1.3vehicle combination; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 169.81, 1.4subdivision 3c. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 169.81, subdivision 3c, is amended to read: 1.7    Subd. 3c. Recreational vehicle combination. Notwithstanding subdivision 3, a 1.8recreational vehicle combination may be operated without a permit if: 1.9(1) the combination does not consist of more than three vehicles, and the towing 1.10rating of the new text begin towing truck ornew text end pickup truck is equal to or greater than the total weight of 1.11all vehicles being towed; 1.12(2) the combination does not exceed 70 feet in length; 1.13(3) the middle vehicle in the combination does not exceed 28 feet in length; 1.14(4) the operator of the combination is at least 18 years of age; 1.15(5)new text begin (4)new text end the trailer carrying a watercraft, motorcycle, motorized bicycle, off-highway 1.16motorcycle, snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle, motorized golf cart, or equestrian equipment 1.17or supplies meets all requirements of law; 1.18(6)new text begin (5)new text end the trailers in the combination are connected to the pickup truck and each 1.19other in conformity with section 169.82; and 1.20(7)new text begin (6)new text end the combination is not operated within the seven-county metropolitan area, 1.21as defined in section 473.121, subdivision 2, during the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 1.22and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays. 1.23new text begin EFFECTIVE DATE.new text end new text begin This section is effective the day following final enactment.new text end
