A bill for an act
relating to transportation safety; prohibiting sale, registration, or use of vehicles
with high-intensity discharge headlamps; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004,
section 169.64, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 169.64, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin High-intensity discharge headlamps. new text end

new text begin (a) No new motor vehicle that
is equipped with high-intensity discharge headlamps may be sold, offered for sale, or
registered for the first time in Minnesota.

new text begin (b) It is unlawful to operate upon a highway within this state a motor vehicle
displaying lighted high-intensity discharge headlamps.
