A bill for an act
relating to human services; providing medical assistance coverage for certified
psychiatric nurse practitioners; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004, section
256B.0625, subdivision 28.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.
Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 256B.0625, subdivision 28, is amended to
read:
Subd. 28.
Certified nurse practitioner services.
Medical assistance covers services
performed by a certified pediatric nurse practitioner, a certified family nurse practitioner, a
certified adult nurse practitioner, a certified obstetric/gynecological nurse practitioner, a
certified neonatal nurse practitioner, deleted text begin ordeleted text end a certified geriatric nurse practitionernew text begin , or a certified
psychiatric nurse practitioner new text end in independent practice, if:
(1) the service provided on an inpatient basis is not included as part of the cost for
inpatient services included in the operating payment rate;
(2) the service is otherwise covered under this chapter as a physician service; and
(3) the service is within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner's license as a
registered nurse, as defined in section 148.171.
