A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; removing a smallmouth bass special regulation
from the Lake Zumbro Dam.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

COUNTY.

new text begin Management plan. new text end

new text begin By May 1, 2006, the commissioner of natural
resources shall update the fishery management plan for the Zumbro River by:

new text begin (1) removing the current smallmouth bass special regulations, beginning at the
Lake Zumbro Dam to Zumbro Falls; and
new text end

new text begin (2) restoring the river to statewide smallmouth bass regulations.

new text begin Five years after implementing the management
plan, the commissioner shall hold a public hearing. Proposed changes to the plan must
be based on a consensus reached at the public hearing and must ensure that the right to
harvest is based on biology.
