A bill for an act
relating to watercraft; modifying inspection requirements of the Department
of Labor and Industry for boats used to carry passengers for hire; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2005 Supplement, section 183.41, subdivision 4.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.
Minnesota Statutes 2005 Supplement, section 183.41, subdivision 4, is
amended to read:
Subd. 4.

The commissioner shall issue deleted text begin an annualdeleted text end new text begin anew text end permit to a boat
for the purpose of carrying passengers for hire on the inland waters of the state provided
the boat satisfies the inspection requirements of this section. A boat subject to inspection
under this chapter shall be registered with the Division of Boiler Inspection and shall be
inspected before a permit may be issued.new text begin A boat with a certificate for carrying more than
six passengers under subdivision 3 must apply for a permit and be inspected each year. A
boat with a certificate for carrying six or fewer passengers under subdivision 3 must apply
for a permit and be inspected every five years.
