ARTICLE 1 - UNIFORM MEDIATION ACT
Adopting the "Uniform Mediation Act"; defining certain terms and specifying the scope of the provisions; providing for confidentiality and a privilege against disclosure of mediation communications, restricting discovery and admissibility as evidence, authorizing waiver and preclusion and specifying certain exceptions; restricting mediator reports; requiring disclosure of possible conflicts of interest by mediators before accepting mediation cases; authorizing participation by attorneys or other designated individuals; international commercial mediations to be governed by the model law on international commercial conciliation adopted and recommended by the United Nations; specifying the relationship of the provisions to the federal electronic signatures in global and national commerce act; providing for uniformity of application and construction and for application to existing agreements or referrals; severability clause; repealing the Minnesota civil mediation act
ARTICLE 2 - CONFORMING AMENDMENTS
Making conforming amendments to certain statutory provisions relating to mediation of disputes under the environmental response and liability act (superfund), actions to suspend tax increment financing (TIF) authority and the scope of the uniform arbitration act
