1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to retirement; authorizing a service credit 1.3 purchase for certain employees of the department of 1.4 corrections. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS; PRIOR SERVICE 1.7 CREDIT PURCHASE.] 1.8 (a) An eligible person, as described in paragraph (b), is 1.9 entitled to purchase service credit in the correctional 1.10 retirement plan of the Minnesota state retirement system for the 1.11 period specified in paragraph (c) by making the payment 1.12 specified in Minnesota Statutes, section 356.55 or 356.551, if 1.13 section 356.55 has expired. 1.14 (b) An eligible person is a person who: 1.15 (1) was initially employed as a stores clerk for the 1.16 department of corrections from April 25, 1990, to August 31, 1.17 1994; 1.18 (2) was promoted to stores clerk-senior on August 31, 1994; 1.19 (3) is currently employed as a central services 1.20 administrative specialist-intermediate; and 1.21 (4) was not allowed to purchase correctional retirement 1.22 plan coverage for service as a stores clerk. 1.23 (c) The prior service credit purchase period is April 25, 1.24 1990, to September 7, 1994. 1.25 Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 2.1 Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
