SF 1453 Senate Long Description

Modifying certain provisions providing for financial aid for +post-secondary education students; requiring higher education services office grants+ to the Minnesota private colleges council to administer financial aid +programs based on the financial needs of students attending member institutions, +requiring the programs to include aid for attendance and child care and work study +assistance costs; requiring the council in consultation with the student +association to develop guidelines to identify economically disadvantaged persons and+ to provide financial assistance to encourage educational development, +requiring allocation of money appropriated to member institutions to provide +the assistance and annual reports to HESO; redefining eligible +institution for student grant in aid purposes as a private post-secondary educational institution not affiliated with organizations allocating financial +aid to member institutions through state funded grants and eliminating +certain tuition and fee limits for cost of attendance determination purposes; +requiring and providing for the same types of financial aid grants under the +Minnesota state colleges and universities (MnSCU) system and the university of +Minnesota and appropriating money to the separate systems for the assistance; +repealing the requirement for HESO to increase the living and miscellaneous expense+ allowance using the savings from certain increases in the maximum federal Pell +grant and a certain provision authorizing HESO to provide grants to students participating in the Akita program (ja)
