  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to government data; extending sunset for 
  1.3             disclosure of certain taxpayer data; amending Laws 
  1.4             1997, First Special Session chapter 3, section 27, as 
  1.5             amended. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1997, First Special Session chapter 3, 
  1.8   section 27, as amended by Laws 1999, chapter 243, article 5, 
  1.9   section 45, and Laws 2001, chapter 202, section 18, is amended 
  1.10  to read: 
  1.11     Sec. 27.  [TAXPAYER'S PERSONAL INFORMATION; DISCLOSURE.] 
  1.12     (a) An owner of property in Washington or Chisago county 
  1.13  that is subject to property taxation must be informed in a clear 
  1.14  and conspicuous manner in writing on a form sent to property 
  1.15  taxpayers that the property owner's name, address, and other 
  1.16  information may be used, rented, or sold for business purposes, 
  1.17  including surveys, marketing, and solicitation. 
  1.18     (b) If the property owner so requests on the form provided, 
  1.19  then any such list generated by the county and sold for business 
  1.20  purposes must exclude the owner's name and address if the 
  1.21  business purpose is conducting surveys, marketing, or 
  1.22  solicitation. 
  1.23     (c) This section expires August 1, 2003 2005.
