  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to tribal compacts; requiring the governor to 
  1.3             request negotiations with tribal governments. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [COMPACT REQUEST.] 
  1.6      The governor shall request by July 1, 2002, of all tribal 
  1.7   governments in the state that revised tribal-state compacts 
  1.8   under Minnesota Statutes, section 3.9221, be negotiated.  The 
  1.9   request shall specify that such negotiations include issues 
  1.10  involving compulsive gambling, advertising and promotion of 
  1.11  gambling, types of gambling, size of operations, safety and 
  1.12  personal liability concerns, labor rights and standards, and the 
  1.13  establishment of renewal periods for compacts.
