  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for 
  1.3             malformed amphibian research. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      (a) $400,000 in fiscal year 2002 and $400,000 in fiscal 
  1.7   year 2003 is appropriated to the commissioner of the pollution 
  1.8   control agency for continued research on malformed amphibians. 
  1.9      (b) The funding must be used for: 
  1.10     (1) a research coordinator position at the agency; 
  1.11     (2) collection of malformed amphibians, water samples, or 
  1.12  other data in the field; and 
  1.13     (3) grants for research on the causes of malformities.  
  1.14     (c) This grant funding is available only if it is matched 
  1.15  on an equal basis by money or in-kind services from nonstate 
  1.16  services.
