1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to health; requiring health insurance 1.3 coverage for infertility treatments; proposing coding 1.4 for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [62Q.505] [INFERTILITY TREATMENT COVERAGE.] 1.7 A health plan must cover infertility treatment, including 1.8 infertility drugs. A health plan may reasonably restrict 1.9 covered infertility drugs by use of a formulary. Coverage under 1.10 this section shall not be subject to any greater coinsurance, 1.11 co-payment, or deductible than that applicable to any other 1.12 coverage provided by the health plan. 1.13 Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 1.14 Section 1 is effective January 1, 2002, and applies to all 1.15 health plans issued or renewed to provide coverage to Minnesota 1.16 residents on or after that date.
