1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to elections; prohibiting constitutional 1.3 officers from receiving certain outside income; 1.4 amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 15A.01, 1.5 subdivision 2. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 15A.01, 1.8 subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.9 Subd. 2. [TO BE IN FULL PAYMENT FOR SERVICES.] (a) The 1.10 salaries provided in this chapter for the officers and employees 1.11 named herein shall be in full payment for all services that may 1.12 be rendered by them either in the performance of their regular 1.13 or special duties or while acting as a member or employee of any 1.14 state board or commission. 1.15 (b) Elected constitutional officers may not receive any 1.16 other compensation for services performed during their tenure in 1.17 office or for the sale of their intellectual property during 1.18 their tenure in office. This prohibition does not prevent an 1.19 elected constitutional officer from receiving retirement 1.20 benefits or from receiving income from investments.
