  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to higher education; Minnesota state colleges 
  1.3             and universities; appropriating money to establish a 
  1.4             microwave connection between Rainy River community 
  1.5             college and Confederation College in Ontario. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [PROGRAM.] 
  1.8      The board of trustees shall develop a program to connect 
  1.9   the Rainy River community college in International Falls with 
  1.10  Confederation College in Fort Frances, Ontario.  The program 
  1.11  shall provide the sharing of services, courses, and other 
  1.12  resources to the educational and financial benefit of both 
  1.13  communities, as well as the future connection of other MnSCU and 
  1.14  Ontario educational institutions. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.16     $144,000 in fiscal year 2002 is appropriated from the 
  1.17  general fund to the board of trustees of the Minnesota state 
  1.18  colleges and universities to establish a microwave connection 
  1.19  between the two campuses and for upgraded digital and video 
  1.20  equipment.
