  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the governor; setting the salary of the 
  1.3             governor at the same level as that of legislators. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [SALARY OF THE GOVERNOR.] 
  1.6      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 15A.082, 
  1.7   subdivision 3, or Laws 1997, Second Special Session chapter 3, 
  1.8   section 16, paragraph (a), the salary of the governor is the 
  1.9   same as the salary set by law for a member of the legislature. 
  1.10     Sec. 2.  [SALARY FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES.] 
  1.11     Notwithstanding section 1, for purposes of Minnesota 
  1.12  Statutes, sections 15A.081, subdivision 7b; 15A.0815, 
  1.13  subdivisions 2, 3, and 4; 43A.17, subdivision 9; 85A.02, 
  1.14  subdivision 5a; and 349A.02, subdivision 1, the salary of the 
  1.15  governor shall be considered the amount in effect before the 
  1.16  effective date of section 1. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.19  enactment.
