  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention; providing law 
  1.3             enforcement officers with foreign language 
  1.4             instruction; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION.] 
  1.7      The peace officer standards and training board shall 
  1.8   provide foreign language instruction that the board deems 
  1.9   relevant to their work in law enforcement to any licensed peace 
  1.10  officer who desires such instruction.  The instruction shall be 
  1.11  at state expense. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.13     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.14  executive director of the peace officer standards and training 
  1.15  board for the purposes of section 1.  This appropriation is 
  1.16  available until June 30, 2003.
