  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; appropriating money for 
  1.3             additional 50 state trooper positions over four years. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; PUBLIC SAFETY; STATE TROOPERS.] 
  1.6      (a) $....... is appropriated from the trunk highway fund to 
  1.7   the commissioner of public safety for hiring an additional 50 
  1.8   state troopers over the next two fiscal bienniums, with 
  1.9   approximately 25 state troopers to be hired during the fiscal 
  1.10  biennium ending June 30, 2003, and 25 state troopers to be hired 
  1.11  during the fiscal biennium ending June 30, 2005. 
  1.12     (b) The complement of the state patrol division of the 
  1.13  department of public safety is increased by 50 positions.
