  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention; appropriating money to 
  1.3             fund peace officers' overtime. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; OVERTIME FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT 
  1.6   OFFICERS.] 
  1.7      $1,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of public safety to be used for grants under 
  1.9   Minnesota Statutes, section 299A.62, the community-oriented 
  1.10  policing program, to fund overtime for peace officers.  Fifty 
  1.11  percent is to be used for grants to St. Paul and Minneapolis 
  1.12  police departments and 50 percent is to be used for grants to 
  1.13  other police departments statewide.  This appropriation is 
  1.14  available until June 30, 2003.
