  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; preventing the 
  1.3             commissioner of natural resources from comparing 
  1.4             conservation officer enforcement activity in the 
  1.5             evaluation of an officer's performance; amending 
  1.6             Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 84.0285. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 84.0285, is 
  1.9   amended to read: 
  1.10     84.0285 [GAME AND FISH CITATION QUOTAS PROHIBITED.] 
  1.11     The commissioner of natural resources, or the director of 
  1.12  the division of enforcement and field service, may not order, 
  1.13  mandate, require, or in any manner suggest, directly or 
  1.14  indirectly, to a conservation officer that the conservation 
  1.15  officer issue a certain number of game and fish law violations 
  1.16  on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly quota basis, 
  1.17  except that the commissioner or director may utilize a 
  1.18  conservation officer's total enforcement activity, in comparison 
  1.19  to the total enforcement activity of all conservation officers, 
  1.20  in the evaluation of an officer's performance. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
