  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to housing; economic security; creating a 
  1.3             demonstration project to provide job training and 
  1.4             develop affordable housing; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [DEMONSTRATION PROJECT.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of economic security shall develop and 
  1.8   administer a demonstration project utilizing youthbuild under 
  1.9   Minnesota Statutes, sections 268.361 to 268.366, and creating a 
  1.10  companion adultbuild program modeled after youthbuild, to build 
  1.11  or rehabilitate affordable housing in Minnesota.  The 
  1.12  demonstration project must target deteriorated housing and 
  1.13  blighted areas in urban, suburban, and rural communities. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.15     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.16  commissioner of economic security for the purposes of section 
  1.17  1.  This appropriation is available for the fiscal year ending 
  1.18  June 30, 2001.
