  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; regulating coverages; requiring 
  1.3             healing touch coverage; proposing coding for new law 
  1.4             in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [62Q.522] [HEALING TOUCH COVERAGE.] 
  1.7      A health plan must cover healing touch therapy performed by 
  1.8   certified practitioners.  
  1.9      This coverage is subject to any deductible, coinsurance, 
  1.10  copayment or other limitation or coverage applicable to other 
  1.11  coverages under the plan.  
  1.12     For purposes of this section, "health plan" includes 
  1.13  coverage that is excluded under section 62A.011, subdivision 3, 
  1.14  clauses (7) and (10). 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; APPLICATION.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective August 1, 2000, and applies to 
  1.17  policies, plans, certificates, and contracts issued or renewed 
  1.18  on or after that date to provide coverage to Minnesota residents.
