  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to municipalities; providing an exception to 
  1.3             tort liability for geographic information systems 
  1.4             information; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.5             466.03, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 466.03, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 21.  [GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) 
  1.10  INFORMATION.] Any claim arising from alleged or actual 
  1.11  inaccuracies in information from geographic information systems 
  1.12  (GIS); if the municipality provides a disclaimer of the accuracy 
  1.13  of the information at any point of initial contact with a 
  1.14  geographic information system to which the public has general 
  1.15  access.  GIS information includes information developed by a 
  1.16  municipality or developed from other sources and compiled for 
  1.17  use by a municipality, either alone or with other entities, 
  1.18  public or private.
