  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the building code; exempting border cities 
  1.3             from certain portions of the energy code; proposing 
  1.4             coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 16B. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [16B.731] [STATE ENERGY CODE IN BORDER CITIES.] 
  1.7      The governing body of a border city, as specified in 
  1.8   section 469.168, subdivision 4, paragraph (c), located on the 
  1.9   western border of the state, may provide by ordinance that 
  1.10  Minnesota Rules, chapter 7670, specifying the energy code 
  1.11  requirements for residential buildings of the State Building 
  1.12  Code, shall remain the standard governing the construction of 
  1.13  residential buildings within the jurisdiction of the city after 
  1.14  April 14, 2000. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
