  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention; authorizing the 
  1.3             commissioner of economic security to award grants to 
  1.4             cities of the first class; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $....... is appropriated for the fiscal year ending June 
  1.8   30, 2000, and $....... is appropriated for the fiscal year 
  1.9   ending June 30, 2001, from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.10  of economic security for grants to cities of the first class 
  1.11  that demonstrate a need for creating and expanding curfew 
  1.12  enforcement, truancy prevention, and pretrial diversion 
  1.13  programs.  Programs funded under this section must have clearly 
  1.14  established neighborhood, community, and family outcome measures 
  1.15  of success and must report to the commissioner on the 
  1.16  achievement of these outcomes on or before June 30, 2001.
