1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to taxation; providing a transitional period 1.3 for the change in taxation of ready-mixed concrete; 1.4 amending Laws 1998, chapter 389, article 8, section 48. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Laws 1998, chapter 389, article 8, section 48, 1.7 is amended to read: 1.8 Sec. 48. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 1.9 Sections 1, 3, 8, 9, 19, and 21 are effective for sales and 1.10 purchases made after June 30, 1998, provided that section 1 does 1.11 not apply to sales under a contract executed before June 30, 1.12 1998, for ready-mixed concrete that would be delivered before 1.13 January 1, 1999. Sections 2 and 47 are effective for sales made 1.14 after June 30, 2000. Sections 5, 13, and 17 are effective for 1.15 sales made after June 30, 1998. Sections 6 and 7 are effective 1.16 for rentals after June 30, 1998. Section 10 is effective for 1.17 purchases made after June 30, 1998. Sections 12, 14, 15, and 34 1.18 are effective the day following final enactment. Section 16 is 1.19 effective for purchases made after December 1, 1997. Section 18 1.20 is effective for purchases made after June 30, 1998, and before 1.21 July 1, 2003. Section 20 is effective for local laws enacted 1.22 after June 30, 1998. Sections 22 and 23 are effective July 1, 1.23 1998. Section 24 is effective December 31, 1997. Sections 25 1.24 to 27 are effective upon approval by the governing body of the 1.25 city of Duluth and compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 2.1 645.021, subdivision 3. Section 28 is effective upon approval 2.2 by the governing body of the city of Mankato and compliance with 2.3 Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3. Section 29 2.4 is effective upon approval by the governing body of the city of 2.5 Rochester and compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 2.6 645.021, subdivision 3. Sections 30 to 32, 36, and 37 are 2.7 effective the day after the governing body of the city of St. 2.8 Paul complies with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021. Section 2.9 35 is effective for transfers after November 30, 1997, and 2.10 before January 1, 1999. 2.11 Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 2.12 Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
