Enacting the "Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (1997)" ARTICLE 1 - GENERAL PROVISIONS Defining certain terms and providing for application, for the effect of court determinations, for the priority of certain questions, for notice to persons outside the state, for personal jurisdiction and limited immunity, for communication and cooperation between courts, for the taking of testimony in other states and for the preservation of records ARTICLE 2 - JURISDICTION Providing for initial, exclusive, continuing and temporary emergency child custody jurisdiction and for jurisdiction to modify determinations made by out of state courts; providing for notice, opportunity to be heard, joinder obligation and intervention rights; regulating simultaneous proceedings; providing for court declination of jurisdiction under certain conditions; specifying the information required to be submitted to court and providing for court issuance of appearance orders ARTICLE 3 - ENFORCEMENT Specifying the duty of the court to recognize and enforce child custody determinations of other states and providing for enforcement of orders to return the child under the Hague convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction; authorizing courts without jurisdiction to modify custody determinations to issue temporary visitation orders under certain conditions; providing for registration of child custody determinations issued by other states and for enforcement of registered determinations; specifying certain communication requirements relating to simultaneous proceedings; providing for expedited enforcement of custody determinations under certain conditions; requiring and providing for service of petition and order; providing for immediate physical custody under certain conditions, for the granting of certain relief and for petitioner application for issuance of a warrant to take physical custody of the child; authorizing appeal; specifying the role of prosecutors and law enforcement officers; repealing the uniform child custody jurisdiction act; specifying certain reference change instructions to the revisor of statutes (rla)
