  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; changing a grantee for the 
  1.3             Mississippi education center grant; imposing a 
  1.4             condition; amending Laws 1998, chapter 404, section 5, 
  1.5             subdivision 9. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1998, chapter 404, section 5, subdivision 
  1.8   9, is amended to read: 
  1.9   Subd. 9.  Mississippi Education Center                 1,400,000 
  1.10  For a grant to independent school 
  1.11  district No. 318, the city of Grand 
  1.12  Rapids, to design and construct a new 
  1.13  library in Grand Rapids.  This 
  1.14  appropriation is not available until 
  1.15  the commissioner determines that 
  1.16  $4,820,000 has been committed from 
  1.17  nonstate sources. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [GRANT AGREEMENT.] 
  1.19     To receive the grant under section 1, the city of Grand 
  1.20  Rapids must agree to the terms and conditions of any existing 
  1.21  grant agreement for the construction of a new library in Grand 
  1.22  Rapids.  The city of Grand Rapids must assume the grant 
  1.23  agreement and all responsibilities and duties under the grant 
  1.24  agreement for independent school district No. 318.
