  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to liquor; clarifying local restriction 
  1.3             provision; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 
  1.4             340A.509. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 340A.509, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      340A.509 [LOCAL RESTRICTIONS.] 
  1.9      Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, a local 
  1.10  authority municipality may impose further restrictions and 
  1.11  regulations on the sale and possession of alcoholic beverages 
  1.12  within its limits. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
