  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to telecommunications; correcting the 
  1.3             definition of "metropolitan area" for purposes of 911 
  1.4             emergency telephone service; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1996, section 403.02, subdivision 2, as 
  1.6             amended. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 403.02, 
  1.9   subdivision 2, as amended by Laws 1997, chapter 202, article 3, 
  1.10  section 18, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [METROPOLITAN AREA.] "Metropolitan area" means 
  1.12  the metropolitan area as defined in section 473.121, subdivision 
  1.13  2 counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, 
  1.14  and Washington. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
