  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the legislature; fixing the size of the 
  1.3             legislature after the 2000 census; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1996, section 2.021. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 2.021, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      2.021 [NUMBER OF MEMBERS.] 
  1.9      For each legislature, until a new apportionment shall have 
  1.10  been made before 2003, the senate is composed of 67 members and 
  1.11  the house of representatives is composed of 134 members.  For 
  1.12  each legislature in 2003 and thereafter, the senate is composed 
  1.13  of 45 members and the house of representatives is composed of 90 
  1.14  members.
