  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to elections; precinct caucus; authorizing 
  1.3             certain minors to be elected a delegate or officer at 
  1.4             the precinct caucus; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, 
  1.5             section 202A.16, subdivision 1.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 202A.16, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  Only those Individuals who may vote or be 
  1.10  elected a delegate or officer at the precinct caucus: 
  1.11     (1) if they are or will be eligible to vote at the time of 
  1.12  the next state general election, may vote or be elected a 
  1.13  delegate or officer at the precinct caucus; or 
  1.14     (2) if authorized by the political party in the state 
  1.15  senate district, house district, or county unit and they are 16 
  1.16  or 17 years of age and enrolled in school at the time of the 
  1.17  precinct caucus.  An individual otherwise eligible voter to vote 
  1.18  or be a delegate may vote or be elected a delegate or officer 
  1.19  only in the precinct where the voter resides at the time of the 
  1.20  caucus.
