  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; including the services of a 
  1.3             certified hearing loss specialist as a covered benefit 
  1.4             under MinnesotaCare and medical assistance; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 256B.0625, 
  1.6             subdivision 14. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 256B.0625, 
  1.9   subdivision 14, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 14.  [DIAGNOSTIC, SCREENING, AND PREVENTIVE 
  1.11  SERVICES.] (a) Medical assistance covers diagnostic, screening, 
  1.12  and preventive services.  
  1.13     (b) "Preventive services" include services related to 
  1.14  pregnancy, including services for those conditions which may 
  1.15  complicate a pregnancy and which may be available to a pregnant 
  1.16  woman determined to be at risk of poor pregnancy outcome.  
  1.17  Preventive services available to a woman at risk of poor 
  1.18  pregnancy outcome may differ in an amount, duration, or scope 
  1.19  from those available to other individuals eligible for medical 
  1.20  assistance. 
  1.21     (c) "Screening services" include, but are not limited to, 
  1.22  blood lead tests. 
  1.23     (d) "Diagnostic, screening, and preventive services" 
  1.24  include the services of a certified hearing loss specialist.
