  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing private sale of 
  1.3             certain tax-forfeited land in Carlton county. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [PRIVATE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LAND; CARLTON 
  1.6   COUNTY.] 
  1.7      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 92.45, the 
  1.8   public sale provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, or 
  1.9   other law to the contrary, Carlton county may convey by private 
  1.10  sale the tax-forfeited land described in paragraph (c). 
  1.11     (b) The land described in paragraph (c) may be sold by 
  1.12  private sale to Interfaith Social Services of Carlton, 
  1.13  Minnesota.  The conveyance must be in a form approved by the 
  1.14  attorney general for a consideration of taxes due on the 
  1.15  property and any penalties, interest, and costs. 
  1.16     (c) The land to be conveyed is located in Carlton county 
  1.17  and is described as: 
  1.18     North 6.66 acres of the West Half of the Northeast Quarter 
  1.19  of the Southwest Quarter, subject to pipeline easement, Section 
  1.20  6, Township 48 North, Range 16 West, City of Carlton. 
  1.21     (d) Carlton county finds that the property would be put to 
  1.22  better use if returned to private use. 
  1.23     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.24     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
