  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to housing and redevelopment authorities; 
  1.3             establishing an occupancy standard; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 469. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [469.0215] [OCCUPANCY STANDARDS.] 
  1.7      An authority administering federal section 8 funds may not 
  1.8   require children of the opposite sex, except very young 
  1.9   children, to occupy the same bedroom or living/sleeping room.  
  1.10  The authority shall establish guidelines and a process for 
  1.11  section 8 recipients or applicants seeking exceptions to the 
  1.12  housing subsidy amount.  If an authority establishes a subsidy 
  1.13  for a family that may result in one or more persons using a 
  1.14  living room as a bedroom, the authority shall review the 
  1.15  exception guidelines and process with the recipient.
