  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to insurance; trade practices; regulating 
  1.3             coinsurance, copayment, and deductible charges; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 72A.20, by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 72A.20, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 35.  [COINSURANCE.] No insurer or health plan company 
  1.10  may base a charge to an insured for coinsurance, a copayment, or 
  1.11  a deductible on any amount other than the amount actually paid 
  1.12  to a health care provider on behalf of the insured. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
