  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to occupations; providing that schools of 
  1.3             cosmetology may offer internships; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1994, section 155A.09, subdivision 2. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 155A.09, 
  1.7   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 2.  [STANDARDS.] The commissioner shall by rule 
  1.9   establish minimum standards of course content and length 
  1.10  specific to the educational preparation prerequisite to testing 
  1.11  and licensing as cosmetologist, esthetician, and 
  1.12  manicurist.  The standards shall permit schools to offer 
  1.13  internships in salons as part of a student's training.
