1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to utilities; allowing utility to provide 1.3 electric service to its own property and facilities; 1.4 amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 216B.42, 1.5 subdivision 2. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 216B.42, 1.8 subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.9 Subd. 2. [SERVICE LINE EXTENSIONS TO UTILITY'S PROPERTY.] 1.10 Notwithstandingtheany contrary provisions insection1.11216B.39this chapter, or in any order or agreement made pursuant 1.12 to this chapter, any electric utility may at any time: 1.13 (1) extend its electric lines for electric service to its 1.14 own utility property and facilities; and 1.15 (2) in the case of a municipally owned utility, to any 1.16 property or facilities owned or operated by the municipality or 1.17 an agency or department of the municipality if the property or 1.18 facilities are used for a public purpose, whether or not service 1.19 by another electric utility is thereby displaced. 1.20 Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 1.21 Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
