  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the metropolitan airports commission; 
  1.3             providing for the detachment of intermediate airport 
  1.4             land from cities or school districts; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 473.625. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 473.625, is 
  1.8   amended to read: 
  1.9      473.625 [DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN MAJOR AIRPORTS LAND FROM 
  1.10  CITIES AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS.] 
  1.11     Lands constituting any major or intermediate airport or a 
  1.12  part thereof now and which may hereafter be operated by any 
  1.13  public corporation organized under sections 473.601 to 473.679, 
  1.14  and embraced within any city or school district organized under 
  1.15  the laws of the state, are hereby detached from such city or 
  1.16  school district.  
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; APPLICATION.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective upon final enactment and applies to 
  1.19  taxes levied in 1995 and payable in 1996 and thereafter.  The 
  1.20  provisions of section 473.629 apply to lands detached as a 
  1.21  result of the amendment enacted by section 1.
