  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to local government; modifying the local 
  1.3             approval requirements for the Nashwauk area ambulance 
  1.4             district law; amending Laws 1994, chapter 587, article 
  1.5             9, section 10, subdivision 6. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1994, chapter 587, article 9, section 10, 
  1.8   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section (a) Laws 1994, 
  1.10  chapter 587, article 9, section 10, is effective in any of the 
  1.11  following cities or towns the day after compliance by the 
  1.12  governing body of a city or town with Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.13  section 645.021, subdivision 3:  the cities of Nashwauk, 
  1.14  Keewatin, Marble, Taconite, and Calumet, and the towns of Feely, 
  1.15  Goodland, Iron Range, Greenway, Lone Pine, Lawrence, Nashwauk, 
  1.16  Balsam, and Bearville the day after compliance with Minnesota 
  1.17  Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3, by the governing body 
  1.18  of each.  This section.  Laws 1994, chapter 587, article 9, 
  1.19  section 10, is effective for unorganized territories described 
  1.20  in subdivision 1, paragraph (a), clauses (12) to (18), the day 
  1.21  after compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, 
  1.22  subdivision 3, by the Itasca county board. 
  1.23     (b) Notwithstanding the time limitations for filing local 
  1.24  approval under Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 
  1.25  3, the certificate of approval of any of the cities, towns, or 
  2.1   counties named in this subdivision may be filed with the 
  2.2   secretary of state at any time after May 6, 1994, and the law 
  2.3   approved by the certificate is then effective as to the 
  2.4   certifying city, town, or unorganized territory.
