1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to state government; providing certain people 1.3 an opportunity for reinstatement of certain insurance 1.4 benefits. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [CONTINUED COVERAGE.] 1.7 A state employee who worked over 30 years for a regional 1.8 treatment center, and whose single or single and dependent 1.9 dental insurance provided under the plan for retired state 1.10 employees was discontinued due to inadvertent failure to pay 1.11 required premiums, may reinstate future dental coverage by 1.12 paying the premium for the future coverage to the carrier within 1.13 90 days of the effective date of this section. A dental 1.14 insurance carrier who provides benefits under the plan for 1.15 retired state employees must notify all retired state employees 1.16 whose dental insurance was discontinued after January 1, 1994, 1.17 due to failure to pay premiums, of their option to reinstate 1.18 coverage under this section. This notice must be sent within 30 1.19 days of the effective date of this section. 1.20 Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 1.21 Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
