  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to international trade and tourism; 
  1.3             increasing the office of tourism budget for 
  1.4             international tourism marketing. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [AUTHORIZATION.] 
  1.7      To maximize the budget for promotion of Minnesota goods and 
  1.8   services in the international marketplace, the international 
  1.9   marketing budget for the office of tourism shall spend $500,000 
  1.10  each fiscal year of the biennium ending June 30, 1997.  This 
  1.11  money is from the general fund appropriation to the office.  Not 
  1.12  later than January 1, 1997, the commissioner of the department 
  1.13  of trade and economic development shall report to the economic 
  1.14  development committees on the effectiveness of this 
  1.15  appropriation.
