A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for a business incubator
for startup science-based companies.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $750,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $750,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a
grant to the Science Initiative of Central Minnesota to establish a business incubator for
startup businesses with science-based manufacturing or research emphasis. Funding may
be used for staff to manage and promote the facility, for a physical plant to accommodate
the startup companies, and for operational support.
