A bill for an act
relating to appropriations; appropriating money for
grants to employers that pay prevailing wages in job
opportunity building zones.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $15,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for grants
to reimburse employers for wages or salaries that are required
to be paid at the prevailing wage rate under Minnesota Statutes,
section 116J.871, to individuals performing services in job
opportunity building zones as defined in Minnesota Statutes,
section 469.310. The commissioner shall adopt rules to
determine eligibility for grants and grant amounts. The
appropriation is available until June 30, 2007.
